David Gates has been working on trucks all of his adult life. His first job during high school was at Waste, Inc. in Dalton, Massachusetts, helping to keep the company'e fleet of Ford and General Motors garbage trucks on the their routes.

After a stint in the Army, Gates studied mechanical engineering at The University of Massachusetts at Lowell. That landed him a job as truck and bus parts manager at a Chevy dealership in Pittsfield, Mass.

He stuck with Chevy dealerships with jobs in Lenox, Mass. and Rutland, Vermont as parts and service director. The Rutland dealer gave him invaluable experience with light, medium duty and heavy duty trucks to compliment his training at the GM College of Dealership Management and Chevy University of Service Management. Gates is also an ASA Certified Master Technician with Advanced Drivability, Caterpilar Certified Technician and CAT Warranty Specialist. All told, he has 30 years of GM and other training.

Gates' other technical experience includes VW, Audi, Mazda and Mercedes-Benz cars and, of all things, boats up to 100 tons. He holds a Master Captain's license, allowing him to operate tugboats, charters and ferry boats.

He lives in Keene, NH with his wife Louise.
